How to Reset your MFA
If you’ve changed your phone, want to switch from SMS to the Authenticator app or just want to add a backup method—here’s how to update your MFA settings.
What Is MFA?
MFA (Microsoft Multi-Factor Authentication) adds an extra layer of security to your account. It requires something you know (your password) and something you have (like a phone or app) to sign in.
Steps to Change Your MFA Method
1. Go to the Security Info Page - Visit: https://aka.ms/mfasetup
2. Sign In – Use your work account (e.g. yourname@company.com).
3. Verify your identity – Choose one of your registered methods: Text / Phone Call / Authenticator App
4. View Your Current Methods – You’ll see a list of your registered authentication methods.
5. Add a New Method – Click “Add sign-in method” and choose: Text Message, Phone Call or Authenticator App
6. Follow the Setup Instructions – You’ll see a list of your registered authentication methods.
7. Change Your Default Method (Optional) – If you have multiple methods, you can set your preferred one as default.
8. Remove Old or Unused Methods – Click “Delete” next to any method you no longer use.
💡 Helpful Tips
- Always have at least two methods registered (e.g. app + phone) in case one fails.
- If you’re locked out or can’t access your current method, contact your your local IIQ Administrator to contact TGB Systems Support.
- You’ll be prompted to reconfigure MFA the next time you sign in after a reset.
